I’ve decided to start this logbook as a quiet little corner of the internet where I can keep track of my sewing and embroidery projects. To write about what I’m working on, what’s going well (or not), and about all the little details in between. And to share it with others, who find delight in sewing or just in looking at custom gear or embroidery, like me.
Logbook isn’t meant to be polished or perfect. There will be thoughts, experiments, designs, behind the build peeks and mistakes. Not only tutorials and instructions. But I believe there's something interesting and useful in just observing someone's work. I actually do this myself for fun and learn this way all the time. Not only about sewing and embroidery.
I could post everything on social media. But, apart from YouTube, I think it doesn't click with me.
On my own page I feel more like I have my own calm, distraction-free space, which feels like I'm sitting down for a coffee with a friend. Not like I'm shouting or throwing flyers at you, when you aren't even interested in sewing ^_^" And that feels much more rewarding and less energy draining to me.
My own logs are also my own rules.
I can jot down a short note with some thought on sewing if I feel like it. Or if I don't have the time. Or if there isn't that much material yet for a video.
Or I can post a huge tutorial or project log update, where the pictures and text can be put in a neat, logical, useful sequence. Not just minced into a random snapshot gallery with a caption beneath.
This in turn also make things less energy draining - I don't feel pressure I have to push myself to always record my work or always make gigantic lab updates or make everything perfect. So I can avoid burn out and again feel more like I'm writing to a sewing friend.
On top of that, I feel a bit safer - nobody will block my account and erase all my posts, because I've added a picture of tactical gear or an air rifle case with an air rifle in it ^_^"
It's nice to have full creative freedom.
So for sure, I will still add videos to my YouTube channel and the logbook will complement it. But my Instagram will just be an additional place, where others from the sewing, machine embroidery or custom gear lovers tribe can contact me, and where I post only simple one-pic updates.
I hope to write often here. (More often than editing videos for YouTube.) So see you soon in the next log :)
